Run the drill
If there is something you really cannot lose, start with this. It is free, it needs no one from us, and its first question is the hard one.
This is a recovery drill — a practice run. It tells you whether the people you would count on could recover what matters if you were not there, and what would go wrong first.
Who are your five?
Every plan we build rests on five people, any three of whom can act together. Before anything else, write down five names. Not passwords, not accounts — people. If you cannot get to five, that is the finding, and it is the most useful thing this drill can tell you.
What you will do (15–30 minutes)
- Name your five.
- Pick one thing you cannot replace: an account, a key, an archive.
- Walk through how three of your five would recover it, and see what is missing or unclear.
- Leave with a short list of what to fix next.

Safety rules
Epoch Cipher will never ask you to send passwords or codes anywhere. Ever.
- Do not write down passwords, recovery codes, or secret phrases.
- Do not text, email, or message codes to anyone.
- If anything feels confusing or unsafe, stop.
What Epoch Cipher is
Epoch Cipher splits the things you cannot replace into five shares, engraved on stainless steel, held by five people you choose. Any three can recover everything. Every kit is created and marked by us, offline, and we keep no copy.
