Epoch Cipher

How we work

Epoch Cipher is a practice, not a product. You are buying a few hours of careful, witnessed work and the steel that comes out of it.

What we make

A set is five stainless steel cards. Each card carries one share of your secret, engraved on both faces: thirty-three words on one side, a machine-readable code on the other. Steel does not care about fire, water, or time.

Each card goes into its own sealed kit with an offline copy of your encrypted data, a hardware key, and a printed guide. One kit per custodian. Any three kits recover everything; any two reveal nothing at all. You choose the five.

The ceremony

A ceremony happens in one sitting, in person, with you present and a witness. Phones go in a sealed bag for the duration. The secret is generated and marked inside the room; it is never on a network and it is never in our hands. When the steel is sealed you get a signed attestation: what was made, when, and a statement that we retained nothing.

Some of those protections are yours to decline. If you do, it is recorded, and the price does not change.

What we ask for, and what we never ask for

To plan a ceremony we ask about logistics: how many people, where, when. Every question is optional. We do not ask what you are protecting. You bring it encrypted; we never need to know.

We will never ask you to send us passwords, recovery codes, or secret phrases anywhere. Ever.

After

You own the relationship with your custodians and your executor; we stay out of it. We recommend a guided verification and refresh once a year — media ages, people move, and a plan that has never been rehearsed is a guess. It is done together, without cameras or screen-sharing.
